Rubberized ramps are being added to the remaining steel plates covering bridge joints on LA 1 in an effort to help with traffic problems.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the ramps are meant to help create a smoother transition on and off the steel plates.
Many drivers said they thought the plates were causing people to slow down, leading to long delays and a traffic nightmare.
