State police and the East Feliciana Sheriff's Office are investigating Clinton Mayor Lori Ann Bell's response to a finding that the town's water system is in violation of state law.
The Advocate reports the mayor was advised of numerous violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act in a September letter from the Department of Health. If she is found to have taken no action, a sheriff's official says that raises the possibility of malfeasance on Bell's part.
She's already facing theft and malfeasance charges related to the spending of police funds on a tent and banner embossed with her name.
