Even one is too many, but the homicide rate in Louisiana's capital city ended significantly lower in 2018 compared to the previous year.
There were 86 homicides in Baton Rouge last year compared to 106 in 2017, an all-time high for the city.
However, District Attorney Hillar Moore tells WAFB-TV that the homicide rate should be lower and that his office will be working this year to determine the underlying reasons for them.
