Subtropical Storm Oscar has formed over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean.
As of Saturday, Oscar was located about 1,040 miles east-southeast of Bermuda with maximum winds of 60 miles per hour.
Oscar could reach hurricane strength by Monday as it drifts towards the west and west-southwest. The National Hurricane Center says if Oscar strengthens as forecast, the system is expected to eventually re-curve around to the northeast and stay out to sea.
For now, Oscar is not a threat to the United States.
In other parts of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, tropical formation is not expected over the next five days.
