A man serving time for armed robbery and aggravated escape in Washington Parish is looking at an even lengthier stay behind bars.
Officials with the Department of Corrections say that 56-year-old Jose Castro broke out of an exercise pen and scaled a perimeter fence at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center Wednesday.
Officers fired several shots at him as he fled out a Sally Port gate.
Castro escaped uninjured but was taken back into custody minutes later and charged with simple escape.
