Ochsner Medical Center Baton Rouge says they've received a transportation grant from the American Cancer Society.
The $5,000 grant is being awarded to help patients in the Greater Baton Rouge area with transportation to and from treatment facilities.
The grant is awarded through an application process and is meant to address unmet transportation needs of cancer patients in particularly vulnerable areas.
Officials with the program say cancer patients undergoing treatment often need assistance with transportation to their appointments, which can create a financial and logistical struggle.
