As expected, Tropical Storm Helene formed off the coast of Africa Friday night.
The storm, with max winds of 40 miles per hour, was moving west at 12 miles per hour, prompting a tropical storm warning for parts of the Cabo Verde Islands.
The National Hurricane Center says Helene will likely gradually strengthen as it moves over warm waters and light shear and could reach hurricane status by Monday.
