The Louisiana Board of Commerce is giving a thumbs-up to a huge break for ExxonMobil on property taxes for a possible major plant expansion in Baton Rouge.
The Advocate reports the project involving polypropylene operations could have a price tag between a half-billion and a billion dollars and create 45 jobs at the facility.
The petroleum company's property tax exemption for the expansion could total just under $6 million the first year.
The tax break still has to pass muster with the Metro Council, the school board and the sheriff.
