Baton Rouge residents are getting their first look at a plan to widen about three-and-a-half miles of Interstate 10.
Officials from the Department of Transportation shared the tentative plans with residents last night at a local middle school.
They said the construction would add new lanes in each direction of the highway between the Mississippi River bridge and the I 10/12 split, and would affect at least 17 homes and four businesses.
Construction crews are expecting to start work next year.
