Louisiana's congressional delegation says that full federal funding will be flowing to the Comite River Diversion Canal project to help protect communities in the Baton Rouge area from a repeat of devastating floods that occurred in 1983 and 2016.
The new round of flood mitigation dollars allocated to Louisiana totals more than $1 billion.
The federal government is shelling out $343 million for the diversion canal that will wind westward from the Comite River south of Plank Road Park and between Baker and Zachary.
