A disorganized Subtropical Storm Alberto continued to drift lazily eastward Friday night.
The 10 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center had no major changes for Alberto in terms of wind speed. The forecast cone was nudged slightly to the east with Alberto drifting in that direction. That could be good news for southeast Louisiana and bad news for Memorial Day vacationers heading to the beaches as most of the impact is expected to be on the eastern side of the storm.
Alberto could become a full-on tropical storm in the next 48 hours as it passes over Gulf waters, with max winds of 65 miles per hour before landfall Monday night with the center of the storm moving over the Alabama/Florida state line.
A tropical storm watch remains in effect along the Gulf Coast, including the New Orleans metro area.
