NHC: Gulf System Won't Become Tropical

The good news from the National Hurricane Center Wednesday morning was that an area of showers and storms in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will not become a tropical or subtropical system.

The bad news is that the system will still be a rainmaker for Florida as it lingers of the Sunshine State's coast a little longer before moving out in a few days.

Effects from the broad area of low pressure are also being felt in western Cuba and part of the Bahamas.

The low is not expected to impact the weather in southeast Louisiana.

The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1.
