Conditions that would allow an area of showers and storms in the eastern Gulf of Mexico to develop further are decreasing, dropping the chances of that happening to 10% over the next five days, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday morning.
"This system has not become any better organized since yesterday and conditions are becoming even less favorable for subtropical or tropical cyclone formation," read the special tropical weather outlook.
Forecasters warn the non-tropical low still poses a threat for parts of Florida and the southeastern United States in the form of "locally heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding" as it moves slowly northward.
The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1.
