Plaquemine Police Chief Kenny Payne is out on bond after his arrest on Tuesday morning.

An Iberville Parish grand jury indicted Payne on Monday for five felony counts of malfeasance in office.

Payne turned himself in the next day.

The indictment claims Payne asked a woman for sexual favors in April in exchange for dropping charges against her boyfriend.

The indictment also says Payne ordered a police lieutenant to delete texts she had received from the victim on her department-issued cell phone.
