Freeze Watch In Effect Thursday Night Into Friday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for portions of southeast Louisiana & southern & southeast Mississippi between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Forecasters says temperatures as low as 27 degrees are possible.

Residents are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors, protect plants and bring pets indoors.

"Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold," said the NWS. "To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing."
