A shortage of deputies is forcing the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office to adjust its patrols in certain neighborhoods.

Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says they're down about 100 deputies, resulting in fewer patrol units on the roads.

Gautreaux says he'd like to put patrols in every trouble spot in the parish to try to cut down on crime, but it can't be done at this time.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is facing similar problems because of a shortage of officers.
