Baton Rouge EMS To Begin Wearing Respirator Masks On Medical Calls

The city of Baton Rouge says its paramedics are going to start wearing respirator masks while responding to emergency calls.

Officials announced yesterday that EMS would be equipped with the new model P-100 respirator masks to help protect them for the coronavirus.

Baton Rouge EMS spokesperson Mike Chustz says the city was able to purchase 150 of the respirators, and will look to restock as supplies become available.

Chustz says Baton Rouge EMS has responded to over 750 calls for potential COVID-19 patients since early March.
