The number of students infected with mumps at LSU is continuing to rise.

School officials announced Thursday that 16 students are now infected with the virus and recommended that any student, faculty or staff member who has not received two doses of MMR get the vaccine as soon as possible.

In addition, administrators are asking anyone who has come into direct contact with someone currently diagnosed with mumps to receive a third MMR vaccine.

According to reports, the LSU Student Health Center will be providing the MMR vaccine to students free of charge at the Student Health Center.
