Hefty Price To Get Downtown Library Repaired, Finished

A just released 350-page report from the contractor says it will cost close to $2 million to repair and finish work on the River Center Branch Library.

Construction came to a screeching halt back in April after supports for the upper floors of the structure began to fail. There were immediate concerns the building might collapse, but that didn't happen.

As it stands now, the library won't likely open until late next year, with the city-parish government refusing to fund the repairs and costs associated with construction delays.
