Lone Finalist For BR Airport Director Fails To Get Enough Votes

The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport has been without a permanent director for nearly two years, a situation left unresolved during Wednesday's meeting of the Metro Council.

Only one candidate is left among the finalists, and The Advocate reports Austin Futch only won support from four of the eight council members present.  He needed at least seven votes.

Mayor Pro Tem Scott Wilson alleged that some council members didn't want Futch to get the job because he's white.
