Man Seeks Venue Change Because Of Confederate Statue In Clinton

A man awaiting his day in court in East Feliciana Parish is seeking a change of venue because a Confederate statue is located near the front of the courthouse.

Ronnie Anderson is seeking to move his gun possession trial because, as a black man, he believes the presence of the monument would prevent him from getting a fair and impartial jury trial.

In a lawsuit, Anderson says Confederate monuments displayed prominently in front of a courthouse send a message to African-Americans of intimidation and oppression.
