Former East Feliciana Coroner Enters Not Guilty Plea

East Feliciana Parish's former coroner is pleading not guilty on charges of falsified records and criminal conspiracy.

The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General is reporting Laura DeJohn entered her plea yesterday morning but a trial date has not been set.

DeJohn, along with former deputy coroner Melanie Vines, are accused of abusing their authority in a scheme to defraud the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office.

The duo was arrested in March of last year, but Vines has yet to be arraigned.
