Mattress Mack Takes Out Ad To Share Fiery Message To Lina Hidalgo

Gallery Furniture owner Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale was a very vocal supporter of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's Republican opponent in the recent election. Mack helped out with fundraising for Alexandra del Moral Mealer's campaign and endorsed her in Gallery Furniture TV ads that ran in heavy rotation during the run up to the midterms.

Mealer conceded the election on November 9 and Hidalgo gave a victory speech wherein she threw some shade at local leaders, including McIngvale, who she referred to as "a furniture salesman." Mack's response arrived over the weekend in the form of a full-page ad in the Houston Chronicle sharing a letter addressed to Lina Hidalgo, Harris County Judge. The letter calls her victory speech spiteful and alleges that the crowd booed her when she made reference to McIngvale (tough to say who the boos were actually for). It also reminds her (and us) that she was recently booed by law enforcement officers in Commissioner's Court. Other highlights include the following:

"The scope and scale of Mattress Mac's impact is clearly beyond your reach. He lifts up others from all walks of life. Contrast this with your policy failures and virtue signaling since you've been in office..."
"Your carefully crafter veneer can't hide your inner self. You come across as a jealous, smug, sanctimonious bully.

The formatting has led to some confusion over who actually penned the letter. Many initially took it as an open letter written by McIngvale to Hidalgo, but where he appears to refer to himself in the third person. On closer inspection, it is clearly a letter from a supporter defending Mack, addressed to Hidalgo, with McIngvale CC'ed. A major indicator is the fact that the writer repeatedly leaves off the K in "Mattress Mack."

Either way, it seems to be a message that Mack wants to send Lina Hidalgo's way. You can read the full text below.
