Another day, another frustrating headline about "progressive" Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, the millennial politician with a heart of fools-gold.
Hidalgo, the same woman who wanted an "equity based" flood prevention plan for Harris County, now says she wants to establish a legal defense fund for non-citizens.
A legal defense fund for illegal immigrants? Great idea! What could possibly go wrong?
The Houston Chronicle reports:
A resolution Hidalgo submitted for approval at Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting directs the Community Services Department to “design, administer funds for, and oversee an immigrant legal services program for county residents, subject to final approval by Commissioners Court.”
Hidalgo’s office estimated the program would cost $500,000 the first year and would require an additional employee to administer it.
Some critics of the idea are suggesting we should starts a legal defense fund for citizens before we establish one for non-citizens. While technically public legal counsel already exists, here's a crazier idea: everyone pay for their own lawyer and stop asking tax payers to participate in cultural Marxism.
