Houston Metro ads are the cringiest

When I was a resident of Chicago I always thought we had the worst public transit system in America.  The odor of urine, crime at all hours of the day, and rats the size of pit-bulls are just a few of the neat things you get to experience when  you're riding on the CTA.

Then I moved to Texas in 2012 and I learned... Houston's public transit system is pretty crappy too.

Besides the fact that the buses are slower than glaciers and the train doesn't travel to any geographic locations where you might actually want to go (not to mention the face that the train blocks traffic, essentially making it harder for people to drive in cars), Houston's public transit system has another problem: advertising.

I don't know why, but for some reason the Houston  Metro feels the need to run TV ads for their services, as if anyone was  ever inspired to ride the bus after watching commercials on TV.

The  whole thought of buying ads to promote public transit is completely  absurd.  People don't ride the bus because they saw a commercial on TV,  they ride the bus because they don't own a flippin' car.

And who watches commercials anyway?  This is 2018: if you're not on Netflix, you probably have a DVR (or both).

Anyway,  Houston hired a "beat poet" named Marie Brown to record this horrible  TV commercial. When I saw this on TV I almost spit beer all over the  room.

How much money did we piss away on this abomination?
