NHC Watching Area Over Central Tropical Atlantic

It's a reminder from Mother Nature that we're not out of hurricane season just yet.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean for signs of further development, placing a medium chance of that happening over the next five days.

The showers and storms are part of a broad area of low pressure located around 900 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.

"This system is expected to move slowly northward over the next few days into an area where environmental conditions are forecast to be more conducive for development," read a Wednesday morning tropical weather outlook from the NHC. "A tropical or subtropical depression could form over the weekend while the system turns westward well to the northeast of the Lesser Antilles."

The season ends November 30th.
