Judge Steven Tureau is resigning from the 23rd Judicial District Court, effective this Saturday.

Tureau notified the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office last Friday of his plan to step down.

Tureau's reelection bid was derailed when he was disqualified for reportedly failing to file required state tax returns.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal upheld the disqualification, and the Louisiana Supreme Court declined to take up the case.
