Volunteers in Pointe Coupee Parish are helping a deputy rebuild his flood-damaged home.
A Tuesday benefit involving more than 700 plates of jambalaya raised more than $11,000 for Deputy Gabe Bordelon.
Bordelon rescued people and delivered meals during Tropical Storm Arthur, even as his own home was flooded.
The Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office, the fire department, the Knights of Columbus and the Morganza Culture District took part in the fundraiser.
