Forecasters say southeast Louisiana will be feeling the heat to start the week, with highs approaching 100 degrees and heat index values possibly up to 115 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory through 8pm tonight, where it might feel as hot as 112 degrees by the afternoon. Tuesday sees an extreme heat watch added for parts of the area, where the afternoon heat index could inch up to 115 degrees. After the stretch of hot and dry days, rain chances return to end the week.
One area southeast Louisiana doesn't have to sweat over is the tropics. As of Monday morning, the National Hurricane Center is not expecting any development over the next week.
