The Baton Rouge Police Department has nearly a dozen new officers ready to hit the streets.
Eleven officers graduated from the police force's 94th basic training academy on Monday.
Nine of the officers are new to the profession, and two of them transferred from other police departments.
East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards says he hopes the new officers will help ease the effects of an ongoing manpower shortage.
