After taking the oath of office on Thursday, Sid Edwards is officially the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish.
Edwards, who defeated two-term incumbent Sharon Weston Broome in a runoff election last month, said he plans to focus on crimefighting and building a better business environment.
His inauguration ceremony took place at the River Center Theater for Performing Arts. The event featured a performance by the marching band from Istrouma High School, where Edwards used to be the football coach.
