A former Baton Rouge bank manager is sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after being convicted of embezzlement and bank fraud.

Eric Schouest of Plaquemine worked as a branch manager at the Regions Bank on Plank Road from 2010 to 2021.

Prosecutors say Schouest bilked customers out of more than $250,000 and deposited the money into his own bank accounts. He covered up his scheme by means of false emails and forged documents.

Schouest pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
