Western Caribbean Once Again Under Watch For Possible Tropical Threat

An active back half of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season looks to continue as forecasters at the National Hurricane Center have highlighted an area in the western Caribbean Sea for possible tropical development.

"An area of low pressure could form over the western Caribbean Sea by the middle of next week," said the NHC Friday morning. "Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for slow development thereafter while the system moves generally northwestward, potentially entering the Gulf of Mexico by the end of next week."

There is no current threat to Louisiana.

The NHC is also watching a potential area of development in the eastern tropical Atlantic, along with named storms Issac and Joyce, neither of which look to be a threat to land.

The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season ends on November 30.
