Tropical Storm Ernesto Slams Northern Caribbean

Tropical Storm Ernesto is slamming the northern Caribbean with high winds and heavy rain as it heads towards Puerto Rico.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Ernesto was 250 miles east-southeast of San Juan with winds around 45-miles-per-hour, as of 10 a.m. Tuesday.

It will impact Puerto Rico by tonight and could bring up to six to eight inches of rain to parts of the region, with some locally higher amounts possible.

The storm will then move north out into the western Atlantic Ocean. It is not a threat to Louisiana.
