The breakaway city of St. George is now open for business.
Interim officials for the new city government were sworn in on Monday evening.
The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled in April that the city should be incorporated.
The following month, Gov. Jeff Landry appointed Dustin Yates as St. George's first mayor and Todd Morris as the first police chief. The next week, Landry appointed the five members of the City Council.
St. George is the fifth largest city in Louisiana.
