A special session of the state legislature continues today.
Gov. John Bel Edwards called the session last week to address the homeowners' insurance crisis in Louisiana.
The House approved HB1 yesterday, which places $45 million into the Insure Louisiana Incentive Fund. The House also passed HB2, prohibiting insurers that were declared insolvent or filed for bankruptcy from participating in the incentive program.
After the hurricane seasons of 2020 and 2021, many insurers either went broke or fled the state.
The session continues through Sunday.
