Another insurance company doing business in Louisiana may be about to bite the dust.

Florida insurance regulators asked a judge on Monday to place FedNat into receivership because of financial weakness.

FedNat has an estimated 1,500 open claims in Louisiana that may go unpaid.

The Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association says that number may grow as policy holders file to reopen their cases.

Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says he's "reaching out to Florida" for more information about the development.
