You will not face a ticket for driving with a cellphone in your hand anytime soon in Louisiana.

A bill that would ban the use of hand-held phones failed to pass in the state House this week. The measure was narrowly defeated in a 48-46 vote.

Amendments to the bill proposed a $300 fine and 90 hours of community services for drivers who broke the law.
