A high-ranking official Louisiana State Police claims there was a coverup involving Ronald Greene's death in 2019.

Lt. Col. Kenny VanBuren made the statement in testimony before a special House Committee on Thursday.

Greene died after a police chase that ended with a crash near Monroe.

State Police initially claimed he died in the crash, but bodycam footage shows troopers tasing and beating him afterward.

The House committee plans to subpoena more people to testify, though the date of its next meeting hasn't been set.
