A Baton Rouge man suspected of stealing an ambulance is out of the hospital and is now in jail.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office says the ambulance was dropping 38-year-old Jeramine McCurley at a hospital about 3 a.m. Friday when he drove away with it.

In the resulting chase on I-10, State Police flattened the ambulance's tires with spike strips, but McCurley didn't stop until he rear-ended a state trooper's car.

McCurley is charged with stealing a motor vehicle, evading an officer, aggravated battery, and traffic violations.
