The U.S. Coast Guard says one person is dead and six others have been rescued after a boat capsized off Port Fourchon Tuesday.

Coast Guard Captain Will Watson says a dozen passengers that were on board the Seacor Power are still missing.

"My heart, and the collective heart of my team goes out to the families, but we're giving it all we have," Watson told reporters Wednesday.

The Coast Guard has boats, a helicopter and a plane searching the area. Watson is hopeful they'll be able to find the 12 who are still missing.

According to reports, the 129-foot vessel named declared an emergency around 4 p.m. after faltering in rough seas.

Officials say two Coast Guard cutters and four Good Samaritan vessels assisted in rescue operations which were hindered by rain and wind up to 60 miles per hour.
