Over 450,000 homes and businesses are without power in Louisiana and southeast Texas after Hurricane Delta tore into the Gulf Coast on Friday.

The Category 2 storm blasted the region with 100-mile-an-hour winds, where residents were still recovering from Hurricane Laura six weeks ago.

In the Baton Rouge area, there were over 85,000 without power from Entergy as of Saturday morning. In the New Orleans metro, the company reported far fewer problems. DEMCO outages across their service area just under 30,000.

Delta is now a tropical storm, but is expected to produce 5 to 10 inches of rain as it moves across central Louisiana and into northern Mississippi.
