Public Defender Calls For Review Of BRPD Officer Over Racist Comments

The East Baton Rouge Office of the Public Defender is demanding an investigation after a sergeant with the Baton Rouge Police Department allegedly made racist comments online.

OPDBR released a statement Monday saying it is "deeply disturbed" by racists comments made by Sergeant Chris Kuhn.

BRPD Chief Murphy Paul also issued a statement last week condemning Kuhn's alleged statements, calling them "disturbing" and "unacceptable under any circumstances."

Kuhn has since been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation after allegedly making racist and other offensive comments on a website.

The 13-year veteran was also reportedly dismissed from his position as treasurer of the Baton Rouge Union of Police.
