As Sally moved further inland Wednesday, attention turned to another potential system in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
The National Hurricane Center was watching an area of showers and thunderstorms off the east coast of Mexico as it continued to get gradually better organized. Forecasters say a tropical depression could possibly form late this week or over the weekend in the southern Gulf.
A tropical wave south of the Cabo Verde Islands is also likely to become a tropical depression over the next few days.

Meanwhile, Teddy and Vicky are not expected to threaten the Gulf Coast.
Teddy is expected to be a major hurricane over the Atlantic, before weakening slightly possibly threatening Bermuda, which already dealt with Hurricane Paulette.
The weakening Vicky is expected to dissipate by the weekend.
