Travelers from New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana to New York City are being told to quarantine for two weeks after they arrive.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued an order this week requiring people from Louisiana and 34 other states to complete a New York State Department of Health traveler form and then isolate for 14 days.

Louisiana residents with plans to travel to New York City are now advised to prepare for the quarantine or to make new arrangements.

New York State officials say those who violate the quarantine could be fined up to $10,000.
