Doctors At Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge say they were able to deliver a premature baby whose mother died from COVID-19.

The hospital said yesterday that Allie Guidry had been hospitalized since May with the coronavirus and was placed on a ventilator a few weeks ago.

Guidry was due to give birth in October, but her condition worsened on Thursday morning, and she passed away.

Guidry's mother and fiancé said doctors were able to save the two-pound baby who is now in stable condition in the NICU, and a GoFundMe page has been established to help with funeral costs.
