Arrest Made In April Shooting Death Of Former BRPD Officer

The man suspected of shooting and killing a former Baton Rouge police officer is behind bars.

Officials say Craig Willis was arrested in connection to the death of Ryan Hord. According to reports, Willis shot Hord following a confrontation over a vehicle burglary near Richland Avenue on the night of April 26th.

The 29-year-old was also hit and attempted to flee the scene but was later captured by a BRPD K9 officer.

Willis has been charged with second-degree murder, simple burglary, felon in possession of a firearm and resisting an officer.
