The Louisiana Department of Health is introducing a pilot program in Baton Rouge in response to COVID-19.

The department launched the Louisiana Health Work Connect to help facilities with healthcare staffing shortages fill those vacancies.

Officials say any qualified nursing home or hospital in the Baton Rouge area can participate in the program, and eligible facilities have received details on how to join from Region 2's Public Health Office.

The department says it plans to start with the capital city and then move throughout the state.
