The East Baton Rouge Parish Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control is warning residents of a large outbreak of biting gnats or black flies.
Officials released a statement Monday regarding the wave of insects headed to the city and say the best way to avoid the bug bites is to wear protective clothing, along with copious amounts of repellent.
According to the EBR Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control, some interesting anecdotal comments on effective repellents include vanilla extract and Victoria's Secret Amber Romance body spray.
