Cat 5 Dorian Continues To Pound Great Abaco, Grand Bahama Islands

The prime minister of the Bahamas is in shock at the destruction from Hurricane Dorian.

Prime Minister Hubert Minnis called it the saddest and worst day of his life.

Dorian is hitting the islands as a powerful category five hurricane with winds gusting over 220 miles an hour.

In a press conference, Minnis broke down in tears and noted that as a doctor he's trained to withstand many things, but not anything like this, calling Dorian a "deadly" and "monster" storm.

Coastal areas of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will be evacuating ahead of Hurricane Dorian.

The hurricane is expected to make a sharp turn to the north, skirting up the East Coast during the week.

Some people in Florida were told to leave the coasts Sunday, while others are ordered to begin mandatory evacuations Monday.

On Monday, all counties along the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina will also be under mandatory evacuation orders.

Hundreds of flights are being also being canceled.

Flights into and out of Florida airports are being shut down in anticipation of impacts from Dorian.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and Palm Beach International are shutting down completely Monday.
